Solar Water Heater – Types and Pricing

Welcome to my blog. I am Dipankar Mandal, Everyone knows the method of heating water by placing a pot of water in the sun. But with a little more scientific method (Solar System), water can be heated by collecting solar heat on the roof of the house. It is possible to save both gas and electric bills using a Solar Water Heater.

Arthritis sufferers need to bathe in this hot water throughout the year. For this, we generally use electrical geysers. For which one has to pay at least 500 to 1500 rupees electric bill per month, or the gas cost is equivalent.

The solar product that helps us to do the same is not a power-generating product. In this system, the heat of the sun, combined with the water through a heat absorber, heats the water to 55°C to 70°C and is stored in a metal container like flex.

Later, it is possible to save gas costs by using hot water for cooking purposes. As well as other water heating appliances, including electric geysers for baths, which add to excessive electricity bills, not running them also has a beneficial effect on electric bills.

Types of Solar Water Heater

In solar water heaters, two types of thermal collectors or heat absorbers are used to collect heat from sunlight. Water heaters are divided into two categories according to usage.

  1. FPC or Flat Plate Collectors Solar Water Heaters
  2. ETC or Evacuated Tube Collectors Solar Water Heaters.

In the FPC-type solar water heater, the copper pipe is positioned through the black-colored flat plate. The material of these pipes absorbs heat from the sun and transfers it to the water due to paint and other environmental conditions.

On the other hand, the heat collection of the engine is made of special material through tubes. This tube is open all around. In which the water reaches, after collecting the heat, the hot water reaches the flex.

Management

Solar water heaters are small or large depending on the size and capacity of their own tank. In addition, the number and size of heat collectors may be more or less. Roughly every 100 liter water heater, requires 15 square feet of space to install on the roof. The bottom part of the water heater is the water inlet, and the top part is the water outlet, which is connected to the house’s water tank and water line.

Keep in mind that the heater tank helps keep the water hot for about 48 hours. So there is no difficulty in getting hot water even at night or even if it is cloudy the next day. Also as an emergency, using this electrical heating system with a water heater, you can heat water.

Capacity

These two types of FPC, ETC water heaters – 100 liter, 200 liters, 300 liters, and 500 liter models are widely used. In that case, the price of the FPC type is usually double and the warranty is more than five years meaning up to 15 years. However, both types of water heaters are capable of providing 15 to 20 years of service.

Price of Solar Water Heater

Now let’s know the price according to different liters of ETC type. ETC price for 100 liters will be approx. Rs. 15,000, 200 liters will be approx. Rs. 25,000, 300 liters will be approx. Rs. 36,000 and 500 liters will be approx. Rs. 55,000.

On the other hand, the price of FPC type will be – 100 liters will cost approx 25,000 rupees, 200 liters will cost approx 55,000 rupees, 300 liters will cost approx 70,000 rupees and 500 liters will cost approx 1,10,000 rupees with installation.

Keeping in mind the savings in this case, we need to know that the power consumption of a geyser of 25 liters is about 180 units per month. The price of which is 8 rupees per unit, we have to pay 1440 rupees.

Now you can imagine yourself that if we use hot water from this solar water heater instead of hot water from geysers used for hotel restaurants or even home cooking, how much we will save?
